Switchbacks in the distance

This picture is taken on the South Kaibab Trail (by the way, there is a North Kaibab Trail if you're wondering). Those jagged lines at the end of the ridge are, you guessed it, switchbacks. The flat sections along the ridges were quite valuable on the way back up. They gave the calves a chance to rest for a while. Date: January 13, 2000.
